DIY Monogrammed Floor Mats

My first post! How exciting! My plan was to start with my old projects and work my way to the more recent ones BUT I'm too impatient for that.  Sooooo...here's my most recent DIY project.

A couple weeks ago I fell in love with these monogrammed car mats from Boutique Me when Centsational Girl was doing a gift card giveaway for this store.

But, even if I had won the gift card, I still couldn't afford these $109 floor mats...so instead I decided to make my own version, the "DIY on the cheap" version.

I remembered seeing car floor mats for sale at my local Peddlers Mall.  I went and got a set of 4 mats, two large front ones and two little back ones, for $8!!! To make my monogram for the floor mats I used my Cricut and cut out a large "A" on card stock. If you don't have a Cricut you could freehand your letters or print them off a computer and cut them out by hand.  Next I used painter's tape to hold my stencil in place on my mats.

I used some Behr Interior Semi-Gloss Enamel paint that I had leftover from a previous project to "monogram" my mats.  Probably not the best choice in paint, but it was free and it got the job done.  I simply dabbed the paint on with a foam brush in a straight up and down motion over my stencil, let the paint dry for about 12 hours, removed stencil, and just like that I had monogrammed floor mats for $8!!!

Pretty cute if I do say so myself!!! So far, these mats have held up really good in my car.  Still look the same after having wet, dirty shoes all over them.  I think these would be great as a gift for a sweet sixteen birthday or even a recent grad headed off to college. Another idea would be to put each family member's name or initials on one mat so everybody could have their own personalized floor mat.  I think I know what I'm gonna give out at Christmas this year!!!

  4. Car mat covers are essential; in car as they saves car from dust and dirt of shoes and keep interior of car in well manner, in my opinion dual car mats are best for cars and they shouldn't be bulky and must be easy to clean.
